Ink manufacturer Flint has announced a Europe-wide 5% increase in prices for its solvent- and water-based as well UV inks. The increases come in effect as of 1 January 2012, with the company citing increased raw material costs as the reason.
The 5% figure is just an average, and EMEA film and foil business director Kim Melander warned that for some products the jump could be "considerably higher".
He said: "Flint Group will continue to search for raw material replacements and offer alternative products to our customers where relevant in order to minimise the impact of the increses as much as possible.
"Regrettably however, the extent of the raw material cost increases can not be fully absorbed by supply chain, manufacturing and formulation initiatives."
