Kim Barker Construction of Scunthorpe, UK has been prosecuted after employee Richard Baisley suffered severe burns from an electrical explosion caused while installing a new sign in front of the company's premises in 2009.

"This is an example of how a simple job, no matter how straightforward it may seem on the face of it, can have serious, if not fatal, consequences if not properly planned," says Health and Safety Executive inspector John Dutton. "Had the company followed industry guidance and best practice […] Mr Baisley would not be bearing the long-term scars of their failings today."
