The new Box-PC from Kontron can be used for digital signage applications

Kontron has launched 'an extremely compact system' designed for graphics-intensive applications such as digital signage, which it states offers features and performance formerly seen only on larger systems.

The fanless embedded Box-PC Microspace MPC-p2 unit has a footprint of 130 x 99mm and supports 3D graphics libraries including DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.2. It also offers hardware acceleration for Flash-based applications, says Kontron.

In addition the Box-PC has extension options for WiFi and GSM/UMTS and is therefore suitable for wireless networking in decentralised deployments.
