Outcast, an operator of a petrol station-based digital signage network in the USA, has teamed up with the US Department of Transportation to narrowcast the 'One Text Or Call Could Wreck It All' public service announcement (PSA) campaign, aimed at alerting drivers to the dangers of using mobile phones at the wheel.
More than 12,000 screens will show a film of teenagers using their phones while driving, before crashing into giant text-speak words including 'OMG' and 'LOL'.
Videos of teenagers experiencing road accidents as a result of phone use will be shown on digital signage sites
"Texting and cell phone use behind the wheel is dangerous for all drivers and can have devastating consequences," says Ray LaHood, US secretary of transportation. "We're thrilled to partner with Outcast and use their unique platform to directly reach millions of drivers with our new PSA."
Nathan Gill, chief revenue officer at Outcast: adds: "We want to ensure that our busy, on-the-go audience has access to important information that can help save lives, and there is no better time to be reminded of this vital message than during those five minutes our viewers are stopped at the pump."
