Start-up company Revolution Imageworks signs up Selectech for media and ink

Buckinghamshire-based Revolution Imageworks was founded in August 2011 by Jonathan Harding to offer a wide range of services including graphic design, large format digital printing and signage and display systems to a variety of market sectors.

Prior to founding Revolution Imageworks, Jonathan worked as a designer and 3D visualiser for MCD Architects of Bond Street working on projects for companies such as Anshen Dyer, Axis Mason, Channel 4 Grand designs and Madonna. He has also worked as Design Manager for Exhibition Display Solutions of Maidenhead where he was heavily involved in large format print.

Although the company has only been in existence for a matter of months, it has already completed projects for the prestigious Stoke Park Golf Club, local gym The Marlow Club and the Megaro Hotel in London’s Kings Cross.

As well as end users, Revolution Imageworks is actively targeting exhibition display companies, interior designers, shop fitters and design businesses.  Being located in the same premises as a design business has also helped bring business to this start-up company.

In order to create its output, the company has invested in a HP DesignJet 5500 printer and a Mimaki JV3 – both of which it purchased through Reading-based GPT.    The DesignJet is primarily used for highly detailed prints, pop-ups and posters and the Mimaki printer is used for canvas and vinyl output such as banners.

Maidenhead-based Selectech, a specialist supplier of ink, media and accessories to the professional wide format sign and display print market, provides Revolution Imageworks with all its media requirements including canvas, vinyl and banner material.

The Mimaki JV3 printer was purchased with original inks and a 6-month warranty.   Jonathan plans to stick with these original inks until this warranty runs out and will then switch across to Colorific’s high quality, alternative inks.  The HP DesignJet 5500 printer was supplied with refillable cartridges and Revolution Imageworks again plans to switch to Colorific’s inks once these are empty.

Colorific’s high quality alternative inks are fully tested and proven in the field and have a track record of reliable and trouble-free performance.  Colorific inks are more cost-effective than OEM inks and there is no differentiation in the quality of output.

According to Jonathan Harding, “We’re very happy with the service and support offered by Selectech thus far and are confident that this positive relationship will continue.  We aim to transfer across to Colorific’s high quality, alternative inks early in the New Year to take advantage of the significant savings that can be made by switching across from OEM inks.”
