RMC Digital Print invests in VUTEk GS 5000r to meet demand for flex-faced skins

Hull-based RMC Digital Print has announced it is Europe's first print company to purchase an EFI VUTEk GS 5000r wide-format printer featuring the ability to produce double-sided flex-face skins for illuminated signs.

RMC Digital Print's EFI VUTEk GS 5000r is being used to produce higher quality flex-face skins, says the company

RMC states it is meeting growing demand for large back-lit flex-face skins from retailers and corporate clients, explaining that the digital print technology from EFI offers a 'crisper and better quality' finish than spraying or painting the back of the material, practised traditionally. The finish is also more durable and can be done faster as the machine's UV-curable inks require no drying time, the company adds.

In addition, the digitally printed output provides an environmentally friendly option, according to RMC, as fewer electrics are needed in illuminated signs if some of the light is blocked from the rear of the sign. The method is encouraged by local planning authorities which wish to reduced the lighting effect of large-scale, fully illuminated signs.
