UK-based Bridgeshire Packaging has become the first firm world-wide to install HP's new Scitex FB7600 printer at its Somercotes, Derbyshire plant.

According to the display and packaging company, the move is intended to increase productivity of POS display units and to venture further into the digital market.

"Investing in the FB7600 press was a big step and we followed a careful decision-making process," says Bridgeshire Packaging director Andrew Whittle. "Our objective was to improve our production efficiency and reduce turnaround times."

The HP Scitex FB7600 prints to a range of substrates including films, papers, synthetics and corrugated board up to 25mm in thickness and uses UV-curable ink to achieve outputs up to 500sq m per hour.

"At present about 95 percent of the output on the FB7600 press is on corrugated board, but we also run Foamex as well as vinyls and Correx for outdoor banners," adds Whittle. "Already we are asking ourselves how we managed without the FB7600."
