Sports photography company goes into large-format with Epson
Feb 13 2012 15:27:53 , 867

An Epson Stylus Pro 9900 large-format ink-jet printer has been installed by Sport Photo Gallery in London, UK to enable the sports photography company to expand its services into larger work.

The 44" (1.1m) roll-fed printer, supplied by CWE Solutions, will take over work from the laser-based digital photolab system and conventional photochemical paper used previously by Sport Photo Gallery, which restricted the company's printed output to a maximum of 20 x 32" (51 x 81cm).

The Epson Stylus Pro 9900 has allowed Sport Photo Gallery to offer larger prints of sporting images

"We're getting excellent quality blacks from the Epson and it's great at accurately reproducing some reds – a colour that appears quite commonly in sportsmen's kit," comments Spencer Maclean, director, Sport Photo Gallery.

Martin Johns, market development manager at Epson UK, adds: "We're impressed with the quality of prints that Sport Photo Gallery is producing on the Epson Stylus Pro 9900. The printer is ideal for their photo and fine art applications, which means they can guarantee consistent and accurate colour reproduction on a wide range of media, whatever the size."

Sport Photo Gallery – which sells prints of sporting images in a range of sizes, media and finishes – also uses Shiraz RIP and Fujifilm LFP satin paper and Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper in its process.
