The UK's – and possibly Europe's – first major shop window display using Samsung's transparent digital displays has been unveiled by Knightsbridge department store Harrods and Crystal Display Systems.
According to digital signage provider Crystal Display Systems, the combination of the 'hard' product with dynamic screen images of the TFT LCD display 'are stopping passersby in their tracks as they observe and take photos' of the images, that can change from transparent to opaque without the addition of a projector.
Crystal Display Systems says the Harrods transparent digital display is 'stopping passersby in their tracks'
A 22" (56cm) version of the Samsung display product is being used in the Harrods project but Crystal Display Systems states that a 46" (1.17m) screen, or larger, could be employed in a similar campaign. A touchscreen offering interactivity would also be 'an option', says the Kent-based company, adding 'the opportunities are limitless with the content bringing the displays and products to life', allowing 'products [to] appear and disappear before your eyes'.
