EFI has introduced a new entry-level wide-format printer, the UV-curable R3225, at ISA International Sign Expo, taking place in Orlando, USA until March 24th.
The 3.2m (126") roll-to-roll machine boasts 'stunning image quality and low total cost of ownership', says EFI, and can print to a wide range of flexible substrates at production speeds of up to 900sq ft (83.6sq m) per hour. The R3225 will be available in the second quarter of 2012 priced at around $160,000 (£101,00).

"Using true eight-level variable drop greyscale technology, the EFI R3225 delivers stunning images, durable prints, and optimised ink usage," says Scott Wood, EFI product manager. "This environmentally friendly printer produces minimal VOC levels, and reduced energy costs."
Output's Sophie Matthews-Paul comments: "The launch of the EFI R3225 is a significant move for print service providers wanting to make the move into 3.2m roll-to-roll wide-format UV-curable production but, until now, have been prevented from doing so because there has been no pedigree platform in the entry-level sector.
"Users need the assurance that, even though their investment comes at the low end, they are benefiting from machine build, technology, ink and overall quality from a high-end manufacturer."
