Large-format digital specialist OMMprint has invested in an Inca Onset S40 digital flatbed printer from Fujifilm, increasing capacity and fulfilling a strategy to enter new markets, including PoP/POS and packaging. Installation of the high-performance, high-quality printer, which replaced one of OMMprint’s two existing Inca Columbia flatbed printers, has recently been completed at the Slough-based company, which is part of integrated marketing services provider the OMM Group.

“The Inca Onset S40 will give OMMprint a big competitive edge over our competitors, most of whom seem to be consolidating at the moment. In contrast, we believe this is the year to go for growth and market share,” says Howard Campion, OMM Group commercial director. “We’ve set challenging targets for OMMprint, and the Onset S40 is one of the keys to reaching them. It marks a step change in our offering, not only to existing customers in the events and sports signage markets but also to new clients in sectors such as POP and packaging. It will certainly set us apart from all our competitors.”

He continues: “The two Inca Columbias we installed in 2004 and 2005 have been fantastic workhorses, which is why we’ve decided to invest in another Inca product. However, with the Inca Onset S40 we can print at a much higher quality at ten times the speed, in six colours, with the flexibility of gloss and matt finishes using Fujifilm’s UVijet OB ink. As a result, we’ll be able to produce high-quality print more efficiently, making OMMprint extremely competitive on pricing.”

Offering features that are consistent with the rest of the Onset range, including wide colour gamut, satin and controllable gloss levels, variable job management and the option of automation, the Onset S40 produces superb PoS-quality display graphics economically at throughput speeds of up to 470 sqm/hr (5,059 sq ft/hr), equivalent to 94 full bed sheets/hr (3.14 x 1.6m) and onto substrates up to 50mm (2in) thick. A choice of uni-directional, bi-directional and super high-quality print modes can be selected depending on specific job requirements. As a result, the Inca Onset S40 is ideal for producing single- and double-sided display PoS, exhibition graphics, backlit/frontlit displays, outdoor signage printing and cosmetic/ fashion graphics.
