Minoru Usui says the new development strategy marks Epson’s ‘next stage of growth’.

Epson has confirmed it commitment to the future of the commercial print industry after announcing a new development strategy alongside a host of new products—which will be unveiled at Drupa 2012. The ‘Engineered for Print’ strategy focuses on Epson looking into unique products and technologies for customers in a number of markets—with goals of doubling its product line-up in the next few years and quadrupling revenue from industrial printing.

“This will be a very big year for us. In fact, I see it as the starting point for the next stage of Epson’s growth,” explains president of the Seiko Epson Corporation, Minoru Usui.

He goes on to say: “We are confident that our commitment to delivering customer value through unique solutions and outstanding support will help us expand.

"In the next few years, my goal is to double revenue from large-format printers and increase revenue from industrial printing by four times.”

During Drupa, the firm will be displaying its next-generation SurePress ‘X’ label press, which incorporates the new single-pass Micro Piezo line head technology—of which Usui is a pioneer. It is also the first Epson product to utilise UV ink.

In addition, Epson has announced its intention to move into the digital dry lab sector by demonstrating its new SureLab SL-D3000 for high quality, on-demand photo and card printing.

Other developments that will also be on show in Germany will include next-generation aqueous and dye inksets to help support the range of new products.
