Three major new digital printing technologies have been announced by Kodak ahead of its drupa appearance, alongside new versions of Prinergy and Intelligent Prepress Manager, amidst various messaging about continuity of supply, converting offset customers to digital and generally dispelling concerns about its financial uncertainty.
Kodak has announced that its new four-colour Prosper 6000XL digital press will offer up to 30 percent in ink savings while providing speeds of up to 300mpm. Hoping to hit at the volume coming out of book and direct mail print sectors, the new Prosper machine incorporates a 'commercial-grade' inline pre-coating system for 'virtually any' offset paper currently available, offering between ten and 60 percent reduction in paper costs from mill-treated options.

The Prosper S30 joins the Kodak Imprinting Systems family for the production of offset/digital hybrid applications. Citing the addition of personalised detail through variable four-colour data printing, its 'laser-like' quality will add value to direct mail, inserts, advertising and packaging labelling, the company states.
In the electrophotographic market, users will also see the Nexpress platform upgraded with inline UV coating, the addition of gold, pearlescent and 'neon' pink to its fifth imaging station, and a high-capacity delivery tray for larger volume applications.
