Amstore VideoPak brings film to print

London-based Amstore has introduced a new product, VideoPak Micro Series, which enables the incorporation of video and audio into printed material such as direct mail and brochures.

Micro Series is the newest development of VideoPak, and is a 40g, 7mm-thick TFT-LCD screen of approximately credit card size that can be embedded into items such as leaflets using printed circuit board assembly processes. It features a micro-USB cable to allow video and audio content to be pre-loaded at the manufacturing stage, and a built-in, lithium rechargeable battery to provide up to 180 minutes of playback time.

The VideoPak range offers size options featuring screens up to 7" (18cm) with 16:9 resolution and a 0.5W built-in stereo speaker. Magnetic sensors activate the content when the printed material is opened.

"We've worked hard to develop a product that combines cutting-edge TFT-LCD technology with bespoke printed material – and VideoPak offers just that," says Marcelo Bustamante, director of Amstore. "Our units have really begun to turn heads in the marketing and communications industries as they're able to explain complex concepts and ideas that don't easily work through 'one-dimensional' print."

Custom-designed VideoPaks have already been used by Harrods, Nokia, Jaguar and Sky, says Amstore.
