HP announces environmental plans at drupa
May 11 2012 10:15:16 , 1057

HP has released details on a number of environmentally conscious initiatives tied in with its Indigo digital printing range at drupa, where it is currently exhibiting.

The HP Indigo 5600, WS6600, and 7600 digital presses have been awarded the Intertek Green Leaf verification mark, while a carbon offset scheme now also applies to the HP Indigo 7600 and WS6600 digital presses, plus the W7250. The offset will be carried out via the Good Energy Initiative, and will be free to customers.

In addition, the new HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press was developed under the HP Product Design for the Environment programme and offers eco-conscious features including energy management and recovery, on-press imaging oil recycling, and recyclability and efficient use of supplies. The press is also manufactured using recycled materials.

At drupa, HP spoke at the FSC Global Forum, and hosted Eco Leadership Forums with panellists discussing sustainability issues in print.

The company is also allied with organisations such as the Forest Stewardship Council and the WWF, and has extended its take-back and recycling schemes in Germany.
