Mitsubishi Electric has announced it has installed the largest digital signage system in Japan at Narita International Airport near Tokyo, comprising 336 display panels including the 160-degree panoramic organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, Panorama Vision.
Panorama Vision is, according to Mitsubishi Electric, 'the world's first seamless 160-degree concave OLED screen' and is made up of 2,000 96 x 96mm OLED display panels to create a 9.6m x 1.9m display. Elsewhere, each of the airport's passenger terminals feature large-format LCD display walls including one 9.2 x 1.7m wall consisting of 27 46" (1.2m) display panels, eleven 42" (1.1m) touchscreen kiosks that allow passengers to search shop listings, and 64 55" (1.4m) LCD digital signage displays deployed around the terminal buildings.
The Mediaway video streaming system delivers full HD content such as advertisements, airport news, entertainment and 'relaxing imagery' to 100 display units simultaneously, and can switch 'instantly' from scheduled content to emergency or informational messages.
Mitsubishi Electric explains that it manufactured the large displays and video streaming system, and worked on the development of the unit placement, overall design concept and content to ensure the most effective arrangement, progression speeds and fonts.
