The exhibition highlighted the value of manufacturing in modern Britain
Inkjet technology developer Xaar has joined 38 other leading British businesses in a special exhibition paying tribute to UK manufacturing.
‘Make it in Great Britain’, which has been taking place at the Science Museum in London from July 24th to September 9th, is the culmination of a campaign launched last year by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. It aims to challenge outdated opinions of modern manufacturing and dispel the idea that Britain ‘does not make anything any more’.
“Xaar is a great UK manufacturing success story. Our printhead technology was invented in the UK in 1990, we went public in 1997 and today we have a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Huntingdon and employ over 450 highly skilled staff globally,” explains Xaar operations director, Ted Wiggins.
Chosen from hundreds of UK companies to participate, Xaar has been providing new technology to the inkjet printing sector for 20 years. The firm claims its most most recent addition to the market, the Xaar 1001 printhead, has ‘changed the face’ of ceramic printing on a global scale.
The exhibition will highlight technological advances in print, again showing that the media is by no means outdated and can still compete in a modern world.
