NEC's new 55" (1.4m) LCD display, which is available this month, will provide professionals with 'full colour confidence', according to the manufacturer.
The SpectraView 552 offers 'life-size, colour accurate images' by using dsRGB at a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, a contrast ratio of 4000:1 and a brightness of 400cd/sq m. It uses a ten-bit Lookup Table for colour calibration and operates with the manufacturer's Profiler PD software to re-calibrate for various colour states.
The screen, which is OPS-compliant, integrates with single-board computers and can be daisy-chained for larger installations. As well as sending alert emails for loss of signal, over-heating or other failures, SpectraView 552 meets a 5.1 Energy Star rating; users can observe and control the heat inside the display, making it an 'ecological choice'.
"The SpectraView 552 combines NEC's expertise from our public displays and colour critical reference displays, to create the first colour accurate large-format display," comments Christopher Parker, product line manager for Professional Displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
"We are proud to offer creative professionals a display which offers straightforward dsRGB colour management, outstanding performance and reliable life-size colour accurate images."
