Finnish manufacturer MultiTouch says that its new ultra-thin bezel (UTB) MultiTaction cell display is the 'first and only' interactive LCD screen of its kind, and is intended for 'demanding' public-facing applications.
The 55" (1.4m) display's bezel measures 1.9mm on the bottom and left sides of the cell, and 3.8mm on the top and right, giving an average pixel-to-pixel mullion of 5.7mm. Using the manufacturer's CVTS optical imaging technology, the screens can accommodate touch, gesture and object recognition for use with badges, products, barcodes and other physical items.
The ultra-thin bezel 55" displays can be mounted in a modular format for large videowalls
Called 'cells' for their modular stacking ability, the screens are fully networkable, are cloud- and social network-ready, and feature 200fps tracking for rapid touch interactivity. They support a range of development tools, from MultiTouch's proprietary Cornerstone software to Microsoft Surface 2.
"The first MultiTaction cells already boasted thin bezels designed with multi-display installations in mind," comments MultiTouch chief executive Petri Martikainen. "The introduction of our ultra-thin bezel model improves the individual cell's appearance dramatically, making multiple display arrays look almost seamless."
The 55" UTB will begin shipping from the end of this month.
