A station manager, artist and businessman have worked together to brighten up Didcot Parkway rail station with wide-format artwork of steam trains of yesteryear.
Stationmaster Kim Higgs and artist and passenger Chris Jennings agreed that the station would benefit from new imagery of old rolling stock. Regular Didcot commuter Sam Cook, chief executive of Prismaflex UK, become involved to print the graphics.
Prismaflex was already a registered Network Rail supplier and produces posters and other wide-format graphics for the company. It output the prints on its 'exclusive' Class 0 fire-proof material to meet rail safety standards.
"Kim and his dynamic team help to make travelling from Didcot to London a real pleasure and this has been helped by the investment the council is making too," comments Cook. "We're also delighted to do our bit to make the station even more attractive and welcoming."
"These old steam trains are part of our heritage and it's fantastic that Chris Jennings has produced these wonderful new images for us," adds Higgs. "But we would never have made the idea reality without Prismaflex."
