Roland DG boasts technology lead
Nov 27 2012 09:37:32 , 1894

The 64" wide machine claims to combine accelerated prints speed with Roland’s integrated print/cut technology, as well as a new printhead design, both 7- and 8-colour configurations, and new Eco-Sol Max2 inks in nine colours.

As well as the usual CMYK, these also include light cyan, light magenta, white, metallic silver, and new light black.

“This a real production workhorse that will last customers ten years plus. The Pro series has been hugely successful for us, but as demands on print speed and quality have increased we needed to cater for them,” explains business manager at Roland DG, Mat Drake.

He continues: “We have also invested in integrating the very latest Piezo print head technology with variable droplet sizes to adapt to different print quality modes.”

The manufacturer says the new model has been built specifically for production printing, with a dual inline printhead configuration claiming to offer ‘outstanding’ image quality at a maximum print speed of 49.1sq m/hr.

Roland DG also claims its Eco-sol Max2 inks, featured in the model, offer fast drying capabilities, as well as long-term outdoor durability, scratch and chemical resistance.

The Eco-sol Max 2 formulation is also nickel-free and thus Roland DG claims the XR-640’s output is more environmentally-friendly than peer technologies.
