Giants Mimaki and Roland DG are the latest to announce new releases to the market, in the hope of capturing the increasing number of print companies crossing into the area.

Mimaki’s new JFX500-2131 claims to be 2.5 times faster than conventional JFX printers from the firm. Boasting speeds of up to 60 sq m/hr with CMYK, and 45sq m/hr for white ink printing. Mimaki’s exclusive UK and Ireland distributor, Hybrid Services, describes the model as a, “new benchmark in high quality, environmentally-advantageous and high volume UV printing.”

Additionally, the new flatbed incorporates a new printhead and advanced LED curing, which claims to produce an ‘exceptionally’ high resolution image quality.

The wide-format print sector is continuing to gather pace in terms of technological development

Roland DG claims the launch of its VersaArt RE-640 has, ‘smashed the barriers’ to entry into the high-speed sign and display production arena. The 64" eco-solvent printer has a maximum print speed of 23.1sq m/hr and features the firm’s latest printhead technology, which it says delivers, ‘outstanding image quality’.

Included in the price of the machine is one year of RolandCare Silver warranty and an ‘Intermediate Digital Print’ course at the Roland DG Academy.

The wide-format print sector is continuing to gather pace in terms of technological development, with new model releases now approaching that of the automotive industry—a trend allowing the diversification needs of today’s print industry to be met much more rapidly.
