Canon is targeting the 'fast-growing' light production market with its second-generation imageRunner Advance series, which it launched in September this year. The company is aiming to address a market with tight budgets but which still shows demand for short-run solutions, it says.
Three models in the imageRunner Advance 8200 series of mono MFDs and one colour model, the C9280 Pro, have a hard act to follow with their predecessors amassing around a quarter of a million sales in the EMEA region since their 2009 launch. New machines in the imageRunner series will offer improved data security with a remote HDD erase function, lower energy consumption with new shut down management tools, and more finishing options. The printers also boast a 31-second warm-up time and higher speeds.
The 8200 series, which became commercially available at the beginning of October this year with prices starting from £26,690, has so far clocked up 21 sales and installations.
The C9280 Pro, which went on sale on November 1st with an entry-level price tag of £45,930, has secured a number of orders with the first installations pending, says Canon.
