Colorific’s UV Light technology briefings hailed a success and first orders placed

Colorific has recently hosted a series of technology briefings to highlight its new UV Light ink technology.  Feedback to date – from both Colorific and the customers and distributors that attended the technology briefings – has been extremely positive.

The briefings were supported by Metamark, the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of self adhesive SignVinyl, Digital Media and Speciality Materials, which donated all the media used throughout the demonstrations.  Metamark has also donated additional materials for upcoming Colorific UV Light events.

Over 20 end users visiting the company’s Maidenhead, UK-based headquarters and five international distributors and five UK end users ordered demo units as a direct result of the event.  One such visitor was René van der Weijde, Commercial Director from Netherlands-based distributor, Sign Top.

René comments, “We first saw an overview of the technology at the SGIA Expo in Las Vegas and were immediately interested in its potential.  As a result, we made the trip over from the Netherlands today to see the UV Light system in action.”

“We can already see the potential of UV Light technology.  The print image and colour gamut produced is great and the output is immediately dry.  We’ve brought our own media samples with us and in testing, the transfers look great.  From an environmental point of view, the solution is extremely positive as less solvent is required and ink consumption is reduced,” he continues.

Colorific UV Light technology enables wide format printer owners to convert existing solvent printers to a greener UV solution.  Currently compatible with any Roland wide format machine that uses Epson Piezo DX4 and DX5 print head technologies, Colorific UV Light is a hybrid solution which combines the reliability of an eco solvent ink with the print performance of a UV ink.

Colorific’s new UV Lightbar System is critical to the technology.  The system comprises an external, stand-alone lamp kit which fixes to the front of any compatible wide format printer.  During the printing process, the pigment is fixed to the ink-receiving layer on the media and then a secondary cure – using the new system – fixes the droplet and provides an immediate cure and cross link on the media.

Sign Top’s René van der Weijde says the company plans to sell the UV Light solution both as a stand-alone Lightbar upgrade to the company’s existing Roland printer customers and also as a complete solution.

Colorific UV Light will be commercially available from the end of January 2013.  Pricing for a 64” wide printer conversion kit starts at £2550 and pricing for the full solution - a Roland RE 64” printer plus Lightbar conversion kit - starts at £13,495.

Colorific will be demonstrating the UV Light solution at a number of events during Q1, 2013, including Sign & Digital 2013 and FESPA in the UK and a number of other events in The Netherlands, France and Spain.  The company will also be hosting further technology briefings at its UK offices.
