Crystal Display Systems has begun shipping what it claims is the world's largest transparent LCD panel, Samsung's 'whopping' 70" (178cm) full HD unit. Customers can order the panel only or it can be supplied with a custom power supply and interface with HDMI input to offer a 'plug and play' solution, CDS adds.

The size of the panel will allow retail and industrial designers 'greater flexibility of design', says CDS, with the opportunity to place larger items behind the screen whilst making use of the full HD resolution for 'crisper content'.
