LumeJet S200 to make first outing at Digital Print UK

The S200 will allow PSPs to combine 'true photographic images with legible text and line art' for 'compelling output', says LumeJet

Coventry-based LumeJet will use November's Digital Print UK show to début its new S200 ultra-high resolution printer in the UK. The manufacturer says the exhibition offers the 'perfect opportunity' to showcase its 'revolutionary photonic printing technology' for marketing literature, photobooks and book jackets.

The LumeJet S200 prints to 305mm reels and will enter beta testing this quarter, confirms Miles Bentley, commercial director for the manufacturer. Using an RGB silver halide process to claim exceptional resolution for a range of applications – potentially including shelf edging and point-of-sale for luxury or cosmetics brands – Bentley says that it can produce exceptionally small font sizes sharply, such as 1pt text reversed out of black. LumeJet is aiming for a print speed in beta of 40sq m/hr.

"Digital Print UK is the perfect opportunity to present a business case for the ultra-high quality output achievable with LumeJet S200 printer," says Bentley. "It's also an ideal showcase for the future developments we already have in the pipeline."

LumeJet is helmed by angel investor Paul Anson, previously co-founder of Inca Digital Printers, which was purchased by Dainippon Screen in 2005. Bentley confirmed to Output that LumeJet closed a £2.5 million financing round in December.
