HP distributor CWE Solutions has installed a fourth HP machine at Reading-based sign-maker Sign Wise. The Scitex FB500 is the latest addition to Sign Wise's arsenal of HP kit, which also includes a Designjet L26500 and two Designjet Z6200s, all of which have been installed since June 2012.
"We have been getting requests for larger and more complex signs being printed on a diverse range of materials and needed to upgrade to the HP Scitex FB500 as it easily handles three-metre lengths and unusual substrates," explains Gerry Poulton, founder of Sign Wise, which brings in 80 percent of its business from trade customers.
"Other printers outsource their more complicated and larger jobs to us and we have created a niche by being helpful, adaptable and willing to try new things and find solutions."
Poulton cites value for money as a key consideration in the company's choice of the FB500, saying he 'couldn't ignore' the fact that the machine came in at considerably less than an equivalent machine from a competitor. The saving has been re-invested in standardising the software used on the production floor, which has also been supplied by CWE Solutions, along with training and support.
