Scitex FB7600 'revolutionises' Signs and Design

Signs and Design is taking on 20 percent more vehicle signage and 30 percent more POS work since installing the Scitex FB7600

Kent-based display producer Signs and Design says its HP Scitex FB7600, installed at the end of 2011, has given it a 'massive step up' in productivity and efficiency since it was brought in to replace its three screen-printing lines. The challenge of installing the 3.2m engine in a tight space proved that even 'one of the largest flat-bed digital presses available' can fit into a surprisingly compact space, notes HP.

Signs and Design, which specialises in construction hoardings, directional and informational signage, vehicle wraps and POS materials, chose the FB7600 to help it reduce production costs and increase efficiency following effects from the global financial crisis in 2010. Managing director Graham Jackson was determined to squeeze the machine into the company's limited footprint, and solved the problem by housing some ancillary parts, such as the UV cabinet, on the floor above.

Together with an Esko Kongsberg cutter, the machine has 'revolutionised' the business, says company director Emma Slavik-Smith, and now it is considering investing in further HP kit.

"Before, something needed from one afternoon to the next morning was almost impossible to do. Now it’s far less daunting," she adds
