Signagelive has demonstrated how its cloud-based digital signage software can be controlled by a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet at the Retail Business Technology Expo in London on March 12th and 13th. At Samsung's booth as a 'key launch partner' for the manufacturer's Smart Signage Platform launch, signagelive showcased the Samsung System on Chip technology, now integrated into its latest release using a new retail-specific application.
The plug-and-play solution contains a number of preconfigured templates that allow retailers to use Samsung's tablets and LCD displays to show 'highly targeted' messages to shoppers. Potential uses include displaying seasonal looks on the large LCD screens while the Galaxy Note tablet is used as a product catalogue from which customers can choose individual items and see different style combinations before purchasing.
The application does not require any technical expertise to set up, says signagelive, and the content can be managed locally or remotely using smartphones and tablets as well as a desktop interface. Using signagelive's cloud-based software and storage in conjunction with Samsung's signagelive-optimised displays eliminates the need for a separate media player, the company adds, resulting in 'significant cost savings'.
