The eighth annual PrintIt! awards ceremony, championing the 'future stars of the print and paper industries', has been confirmed to take place during North Print and Pack 2013 in Harrogate on May 16th. Around 200 students, parents, teachers and sponsors will attend the event on the main show floor, where the winners and their schools will both receive prizes. A new PrintIt! chairman will also be announced at the ceremony.
The nation-wide education initiative for GCSE and A-Level pupils studying graphics products, product design and media studies is based around a competition to design promotional materials for supermarket Fairtrade produce. It is also open to those studying for diplomas in creative and media, or manufacturing and product design.
"The initiative is aimed at informing young people that there are vibrant and exciting careers in the print and paper industry, as well as changing any misconceptions they may have about print," says Richard Moore, print and paper industry lead for Proskills.
"There can be nowhere better to show students what a wonderful industry this is than at an exhibition where they'll be able to walk through a hall filled with the latest print technologies on display."
