Durst launches Variodrop technology for its Rho P10 Series of Printers at ISA in the USA in April
Durst is pleased to announce the innovative development of Variodrop printhead technology to its Rho P10 Series of UV inkjet printers, which further enhances the unrivalled quality of all the printers in the series.
The benefits of Variodrop are refined greyscale technology, with improved productivity and image quality whilst overcoming some of the errors which can occur with greyscale printing alone. In particular, greyscale relies very strongly on accuracy of drop placement and this can be affected by the uniformity of velocity of drops. Any variations of the printheads’ working conditions could lead to a mismatch of different greyscale level drop velocities and the consequence is drop placement inaccuracy.
“There is a significant increase in productivity of up to 25% for all the Rho P10 Series printers,“ said Michael Lackner, Marketing Manager of Durst. “For example, with Variodrop the output of the Rho P10 250 is up to 240 sqm/h featuring an ink drop size of 15 picolitres. In addition, the quality is improved for both 15 picolitre and 10 picolitre printing, including better colour gamut and even smoother solid colours.“
Variodrop is an adjustable binary mode which uses multipulsing for drop size modulation and is not concerned with possible drop velocity variations associated with greyscale printing. It combines two voltage pulses in such a way that the second pulse pumps precise dosage amounts of ink into the droplet before it detaches from the nozzle plate without forming any satellites. This new printing technology is a major improvement and it surpasses greyscale only applications almost every time.
The Rho P10 printers offer a DPI of 1000 and are the first industrial level UV inkjet printers featuring the very small drop size of only 10 picolitres. Thanks to Durst’s latest Quadro Array printhead technology associated with the P10 Series, the exceptional quality is maintained at the highest level of productivity and Variodrop enhances the final output even further.
