Croatian wide-format company FED has become the first in the Balkans to opt for the EFI VUTEk LED curing system. FED selected the VUTEk GS2000LX for its speed, low energy consumption and ability to print to a variety of specialist materials.

"We chose the EFI VUTEk GS2000LX because we needed a higher level of print quality and production," explains FED owner Davor Ferdebar. "LED [cool curing] technology was particularly appealing because it provides less stress to the material, saves energy and increases productivity."

FED's clients include Chanel, Coca-Cola and Nestlé, and Ferdebar says consumer demand also influenced his decision. "There is constant pressure from the market and you have to follow it to remain competitive," he says. "The VUTEk GS2000LX is an upgradeable platform, enabling options such as printing directly on corrugated material and greyscale printing.

"With productive, reliable machines like the VUTEk, labour costs are lowered. And, if you deliver consistent, ever-increasing quality, your customers don't focus exclusively on the lowest price, because they know the value of what they are getting," he concludes.
