Rutland-based POS specialist MJD has unveiled details of a planned £500k growth programme that will see it move to new premises and create new jobs. The company has also chosen to invest in a new Océ Arizona 550XT flat-bed UV-curable printer to boost its production.
Confirming that the company has signed a lease for a new property in Corby, MJD's owner and managing director Paul Barker-Smith says: "This is a really positive move for us. The new facility will complement our existing POS production capabilities such as vacuum forming, and provide the business with the perfect environment for sustained growth."
The Arizona 550XT has been specifically selected to allow the company to print to a wide range of materials, including plastics, cardboard, Foamex, fabric, glass and plywood, and particularly for closely-viewed POS and back-lit applications. MJD also hopes the new enginer will help it minimize raw materials usage.
"As a business, we're already working towards the POS industry's Sustainability Standard (PSS), developed by trade association POPAI UK and Ireland," Barker-Smith adds. "The Arizona's ability to consume half the ink of most printers in this class per printed square metre was also a major contributing factor to our decision."
