Fujifilm's new solution for printing corrugated board utilises a robot arm to move the substrate to the printer bed without marking

Fujifilm has announced the launch of a 'unique' solution for printing corrugated board, designed to appeal to POS producers. Combining the Inca Onset S40i, Fujifilm's new Uvijet OC inks and a new handling system that the company previewed in January, the solution aims to overcome the challenges typically associated with printing to corrugated board.

The new Uvijet inkset has been developed to allow for cutting, folding and shaping with 'amazing' results even after periods of storage following printing, Fujifilm says. In addition, a vacuum-to-vacuum transfer method, which uses a robotic arm and a camera system accurate to within 0.5mm, separates the top sheet of a stack and moves it onto the Inca Onset S40i's vacuum bed without gripping or squeezing the substrate. This new handling system eliminates both the potential for marks on the board and the need for 'excessive' gaps between the print-head and the substrate, allowing for sharp text and image quality. A second vacuum system removes the output after printing.

"We are confident that bringing this solution to market will open up new business opportunities for these printers and give the industry a new standard to work to," comments Tudor Morgan, marketing manager, Fujfilm.
