North Print sees double finishing investment by Harlow Printing
May 22 2013 09:32:37 , 1004

(L-R) Harlow Printing's production director Paul Smith, managing director Richard Walker, director Helen Pritchard and Tony Hands, joint managing director of IFS, agreed the deal at North Print and Pack

Harlow Printing's new factory, which will open its doors this summer, will be complemented by two new pieces of Horizon print finishing kit supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS). The deal was struck on the IFS stand at last week's North Print and Pack exhibition.

The Horizon StitchLiner 5500 for automated saddle-stitching and the Perfecta 115 guillotine will finish work coming off a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SX74, which can reach production speeds of up to 15,000sph. The StitchLiner 5500 boasts simplified automation for job transition and format change, using a touchscreen interface intended for easy use by inexperienced operators.

"We handle a large volume of NHS and health sector work and the new factory has been designed to concentrate on the production of quick response, high quality full-colour work," comments Richard Walker, managing director of Harlow Printing. "We have a variety of IFS-supplied equipment at our other factories and so, when we needed to create the right set-up, we knew exactly which systems would deliver the best options and workflow."

"Harlow Printing is a fantastic operation with a very clear growth strategy and we [are] proud to partner them," adds Bryan Godwyn, joint managing director of IFS.
