HP has announced that Bennett Graphics installed an HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press to increase production capacity and expand application offerings for greater profitability.
The family-owned print service provider (PSP) located in Tucker, GA, produces internal and external communications materials for non-profit organizations, colleges and universities as well as small graphic design agencies.
Before installing the B2-format HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, Bennett Graphics produced all its digitally printed output on an HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press. The company looked to expand its digital printing capabilities when it noticed a trend in the printing industry towards shorter, personalized runs and pressure from customers for decreased production time. Digital printing currently makes up 30 percent of Bennett Graphics’ total volume of work, and the company expects that number to grow with the installation of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press.
“We see the HP Indigo 10000 as more than just a ‘cool press,’ but as a tool that allows us to take on new, larger jobs and build our business,” said David Bennett, president of Bennett Graphics. “We anticipate a rapid shift from offset to digital printing and are preparing our company for growth by investing in the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press.”
Bennett Graphics intends to move some of its short-run offset jobs to the new press for reduced print production times. By eliminating time spent preparing plates and make-ready waste associated with offset, the company expects increased productivity and cost savings. The company also anticipates new business and organic growth with existing customers.
The wider format of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press enables the company to produce larger format applications, such as posters and oversized brochures, which it could not previously support through digital printing. The press also raises the crossover point between digital and offset production, allowing the company to print longer-run digital jobs at a lower cost.
Bennett Graphics also considered the high quality associated with HP Indigo when choosing to purchase this press over other competing digital presses.
“Many of the materials we print are used for recruitment or to solicit funds,” said Bennett. “Our customers use bright images to attract the reader and place a high value on the color quality of the final product. The HP Indigo 10000 meets their demands to print eye-catching, vibrant pieces that wow.”
Building business success with HP
To share the benefits of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press with customers and prospects, Bennett Graphics created a lunch-and-learn series. Working with HP, the company hosts up to 15 attendees at a time to introduce the capabilities of the new press as well as display B2-sized sample prints.
During each session, Bennett Graphics and HP representatives discuss with attendees how this new equipment can help them in their marketing plans to communicate in different ways and cut costs. Bennett Graphics also invites HP media partners to present different substrates compatible with the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, giving an overview of all the printing possibilities available.
“We are receiving positive feedback from our clients who attend the HP Indigo 10000 lunch-and-learns,” said Bennett. “Seeing printed samples from the press piques interest in our clients to create new designs that they didn’t think were previously possible in a digital printing environment.”
