Harrogate-based commercial printer Platinum has 'transformed' its business to become a full marketing service provider with the help of Ricoh. The company invested in a Ricoh Pro C901 printer to cope with increased demand for digital print work, and says the machine has integrated so well that it is now 'part of the fixtures and fittings'.
The decision to invest in a new press came when Platinum realised its existing digital press could not produce the quality its customers required. "We found that few machines could achieve the quality of finish that the Pro C901 could," says Mark Plummer, production director. "Printouts from other equipment looked a bit glossy and still didn't meet the kind of level of finish you get from litho. But the quality and print speeds on the Ricoh press were very good, and we were confident that with the level of service and support that Ricoh offers we'd get a fully reliable solution.
"We're not just a printer anymore," Plummer adds. "Customers come to us for printing, but we can then teach them how to maximise sales and marketing using the different media and methods we are able to employ."
