HP has unveiled brand new High Dynamic Range printing technology in the latest addition to the Scitex family, the Scitex FB10000. The latex 3.2 x 1.6m flat-bed features HDR3000 print-heads, which offer variable drop sizes to combine high detail and high productivity in one print.
Described by HP as 'the art of no compromise', the FB10000 boasts speeds of up to 625sq m/hr and is designed to be a step up from the FB7600. As well as the new print-heads, HP has developed a new HDR240 ink-set, which can print to substrates including paper, corrugated boards, polypropylene and acrylic.
The FB10000 also benefits from an improved vacuum table, which HP says allows for printing to cheaper media options. Additionally, the company announced automated calibration tools for the new machine, about which it says it will provide more information in due course.
Gerhard Worch of FB10000 beta-site KL Druck in Germany says the machine has allowed his company to compete for jobs in house with its litho and screen-printing kit, and segment POS jobs to offer personalised output for its large retail clients. "The FB10000 offers good opportunities for the future," he says.
