Agfa's Ardeco dye-sub machine has been developed as an end-to-end solution for soft signage with in-built finishing capabilities

Agfa has become the latest wide-format manufacturer to step into the textile arena with the launch of the Ardeco machine for soft signage. Unveiled at FESPA 2013, the Ardeco is described as a 'state-of-the-art' solution with a highly accurate textile transport system and inline cold-knife cutting.

The 3.2m-wide dye-sublimation engine offers a choice of print-head configurations, says Agfa, and is designed to produce back-lit displays, flags and other textile applications on polyester-based substrates. The Ardeco also features built-in calendering, making it 'an end-to-end system that doesn't require any additional fixation or finishing option'. An 'ink-through' feature allows for the printing of highly-absorbent and open-weave fabrics without potentially damaging ink splash-back.

"Digital textile printing is really coming of age and the Ardeco system will satisfy sign-makers and display producers wanting to benefit from the engine's high productivity and our Asanti solution," states Willy van Dromme, director of marketing sign and display at Agfa Graphics. "Ardeco itself has a compact footprint yet the complete solution incorporates all the elements needed for straightforward, high-quality and reliable direct-to-fabric printing and calendering."
