Canon and Displayways bring London Fashion Week catwalk to life

The catwalk was installed in a multi-storey car park to provide an urban atmosphere that contrasted with the designs

Fashion designer Henry Holland has used graphics printed on an Océ Arizona XT 350 UV-curable flat-bed printer by Displayways, combined with a giant angled mirror, for his London Fashion Week catwalk. The arrangement of graphics and reflection aims to provide the illusion that the models are walking on clouds.

Holland worked with Canon and London-based Displayways to complete the project, which required 180sq m of vinyl to be printed for the catwalk section. "Our Arizona XT 350 printer is ideal for projects like Henry's," comments Keith Birch, Displayways's account director. "The print definition is very fine and it has excellent colour saturation and vibrancy."

"This is the first time I have worked with a printed catwalk, but it definitely won't be the last," Holland adds. "The colours came out brilliantly, and the graphics produced on the Arizona were an essential element in achieving the overall impact we had envisaged for the show. This project has really opened my eyes to the capabilities of wide-format printing."
