An Electronics and Computer Science student from the University of Southampton has developed a screen-printed digital watch on fabric which has been billed as a world first. Marc De Vos used screen-printable pastes to create an electroluminescent smart-watch, which has been exhibited at the Smart Textiles Salon, held in Belgium.

"Marc used the world-class facilities available in the department to produce his prototype," notes Dr Russel Torah, senior research fellow. "Presenting his work at the conference shows what is possible for our undergraduates to achieve during their time here."
