EFI has announced the takeover of pre-press software provider Metrix Software. The move will see EFI acquire Metrix Software's automated print planning and imposition technology. The Metrix team will become part of EFI, with former Metrix chief executive Rohan Holt becoming director of EFI Metrix products.

"EFI and Metrix have had a positive working relationship for several years," states Marc Olin, interim chief financial officer and senior vice-president at EFI. "Adding the Metrix team's exceptional talent and technical know-how helps us drive innovation even further, ensuring that EFI customers can continue to reduce the cost and improve the profitability of their printing operations."

Metrix's reseller and channel networks will be retained by EFI, with the long-term goal being the integration of Metrix's technology into EFI's MIS and ERP workflow offerings. A new version of Metrix will be unveiled next month at SGIA Expo 2013.

Metrix chief executive Rohan Holt comments: "EFI is the leader in print production workflow and I know our world-wide customer base will benefit enormously from the new level of integration with EFI's products."
