The Z5400 eprinter uses two-roll media and automatic switching to reduce downtime between jobs

HP has announced the release of two new wide-format machines: the 36" (0.9m) Designjet T2500, an upgrade on the T2300 and aimed at the AEC market, and the 44" (1.2m) Z5400 multi-roll eprinter for the GIS and copy shop markets.

The T2500 print-and-scan device, which has a smaller footprint than the T230, offers two-roll front loading, a scanner and an in-built stacking device. Printing at 36" (0.9m) wide, it is smaller than previous models and marks a return by HP back to the A0 format.

The Z5400 uses aqueous HP photo inks and prints in CMYK, matte black and light grey, as does the T2500. Suitable for fine art, posters and photographs, the Z5400 is compatible with a wide variety of substrates and offers automatic media switching. Both devices come with cloud connectivity and auto-update firmware.

"We wanted to listen to our users when designing these new machines," comments Collin Easton, category and marketing manager at HP. "The smaller footprint and combination of print-and-scan on a single device reflects how we work with customers to shape our products to their needs."

The T2500 is currently commercially available, with the Z5400 expected to be on sale from the end of October 2013.
