A prototype version of Mimaki's UV-LED ink-jet JFX200-2513 flat-bed printer has emerged at Viscom Düsseldorf 2013, along with further details on the new machine. With a maximum print area of 2.4 x 1.3m on substrates up to 0.5cm thick, the JFX200-2513 is currently able to print at 25sq metres per hour with CMYK and 12.5sq m per hour with four colours plus white.
The model is considered more environmentally friendly than previous Mimaki flat-beds, with lower heat generation and less power consumption. It is expected to be commercially available from the beginning of 2014.
"It's a brand new product for Mimaki, and we're here to see what the customers want,” says Mike Horsten, general marketing manager for Mimaki EMEA. "We think it's a great opportunity for people moving into the flat-bed market, who want an entry-level device.
"Although it's a demonstration product, it won't change that much. It's almost finished, so there will be some small tweaking before it goes out, ready for delivery in January or February next year," he adds.
