Leicester-based Digital Wordcrafts has extended its print room with a new Mimaki JV5-320S 3.2m-wide solvent printer from i-Sub Digital, giving the company the extra width and capacity required to handle larger work.

Digital Wordcrafts bought its first Mimaki wide-format printer four years ago and over time has built up a collection comprising a Mimaki JV34, two Mimaki JV33 machines and now a Mimaki JV5-320S. The new printer – only the second of its type to be installed in the UK – was installed in October by Mimaki UK reseller i-Sub Digital Ltd.

Adrian Bingley, Director of Digital Wordcrafts, explains that the additional width provided by the JV5 has enabled his business to offer larger work – jobs that had formerly been outsourced.

"We bought the 3.2m machine to get extra width and we can now cater more for the exhibition market," he says. "Printing onto textiles and stretching them onto canvases is a cost-effective way to produce a large-scale wall display with no joins or visible fixings, ideal for exhibition graphics."

Digital Wordcrafts has also completed a job for HSBC on the Mimaki JV5 since its installation: a 3m x 4m backlit display for use in a branch of the banking chain. "We wouldn't have been able to achieve that before the new machine," says Bingley.

Using Mimaki SS21 class-leading solvent inks, the Mimaki JV5 can print onto a range of media including textiles, canvas, films, vinyl, banner PVC and papers. Its four print heads offer fast speeds and outstanding quality, with resolutions of up to 1440dpi.

"The JV5 can be used for any type of work, but we use it mainly for wider jobs," Bingley adds. "It's working really well."

It is the latest in a number of Mimaki machines supplied to Digital Wordcrafts by Kettering-based i-Sub Digital. "We're delighted to help Adrian and his team offer an even greater range of printing services with the wider JV5-320S," comments Andy Spreag, Director of i-Sub Digital. "It's also nice to maintain the relationship with Digital Wordcrafts after supplying their previous Mimaki machines and testament to the quality of Mimaki printers that customers turn to the brand again and again to help grow their business."

i-Sub Digital is currently offering an enhanced deal on other printers in the Mimaki range. Existing owners of Mimaki CJV30-130, Mimaki CJV30-160, Mimaki JV33-130 and Mimaki JV33-160 solvent printers, working or not, can trade them in for a new printer and receive a 3-year Gold Warranty and £1,800 worth of ink.
