The British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) is to run two workshops at Sign and Digital UK 2014, in response to changing government legislation concerning the UK sign industry. The workshops aim to provide a detailed explanation as to the requirements for sign-makers as a result of the new laws.
One workshop will deal with the new standards for sign design and construction, dealing with the new Eurocode European standards and their relation to UK standard BS 559. The second workshop will look at planning regulations and how such law impacts on the maintenance of signs, as well as an addendum being added to BS 559 about sign maintenance and warranties.
"While changes to legislation and planning laws are often ignored or simply condemned as interference by bureaucrats, both can have a direct impact on the success or otherwise of sign businesses," explains David Dyke, BSGA president. "Anyone who commissions, manufactures or installs a sign is bound by the rules and it is vital that everyone involved in the industry understands what is required of them."
