Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) has announced it is to give its Horizon HT-1000V three-knife trimmer its UK début at Ipex 2014. Offering variable short-run and run-of-one book production on stocks up to 65mm thick, the HT-1000V will be demonstrated live at the company's stand.
Boasting no make-ready for book trimming and a production speed of 1,000 per hour, dependent on pre-preparation, the HT-1000V can also be used with Horzon's pXnet JDF workflow, while it can also be used with Horizon perfect binders in an automated production line.
Other features of the HT-1000V is the ability to memorise up to 200 print jobs for repeat orders, plus automated book clamp operation, resulting in plates not needing to be changed for different formats, and a servo-motor driven pusher, designed to place each book accurately before trimming.
"This solution has been developed to handle a broad print production demand from runs of one to runs of thousands," asserts Bryan Godwyn, IFS joint managing director. "With the commercial availability of high-speed B2 ink-jet presses and operations under greater pressure to offer flexibility with fast turnaround times, a system that can adapt to these demands and produce high quality results will help them gain the all-important competitive edge."
