Adobe has introduced 3D printing capabilities into its Photoshop Creative Cloud (CC) software, as it looks to become 'the go-to tool' for 3D model printing. Available as part of the new update to Adobe CC, the new features permit the building, refining, previewing and preparing print-ready 3D designs within Photoshop itself, either from scratch or by using an existing model.
"The new 3D print capabilities in Photoshop take the guess work out of printing 3D models for everyone," claims Winston Hendrickson, vice-president for products at Adobe creative media solutions. "Before today there was a gap between the content produced by 3D modelling tools and what 3D printers need in order to deliver high-quality results. Now, by simply clicking print, creatives can bring 3D designs to the physical world."
Users can output either to a locally-connected 3D printer or to certain online 3D print services, due to built-in access within the software. Photoshop CC claims to support most 'popular desktop 3D printers', as well as the full materials portfolio of 3D printing marketplace Shapeways. Adobe has also announced compatibility with Sketchfab's 3D publishing service and Interactive 3D viewer.
