Brindley Design and Print has taken the decision to replace its Agfa Anapurna M2 with an M1600 model to deal with an increasing workload. With its strategy of mutually outsourcing jobs with local litho printers bringing in more work than it could satisfy, the decision was taken to invest in a more powerful machine.
"We looked at several alternatives to the Anapurna," explains Mark Plotnek, co-director at Brindley. "However, with the satisfying experience of working with Agfa over the past few years, we are very happy we stayed with a company we trust."
The M1600 is a 1.6m UV-curable printer that outputs at 46sq m/hr, with white ink printing capabilities for dark, transparent and back-lit media. It can print both roll-to-roll and rigid material up to 450mm thick at 720 x 1,440dpi.
"Academies initially approached us for posters, but we soon progressed to pop-up displays and now we are producing and installing large-scale exterior building signage," adds Phil Mander, co-director at Brindley. "The new M1600 has performed very well, although we have still to properly make full use of all its features. Printing with white ink offers so many possibilities for the future
