Canon has unveiled an inline cartonboard cutting, coating and stacking system for the Océ Infinistream at Interpack 2014. The system, which is designed for folding carton applications, has seen its first installation at German packaging print house Leupold.
The manufacturer has formed a partnership with two others to supply the system, which consists of Tresu's WebCoat, a flexo coating unit, and bielomatik's CFS di72 digital-controlled cutter, which features non-stop palletising. The system, which handles sheets from B2 up to 1.06m, enables packaging to be varnished using UV-curable or aqueous processes before being cut and stacked.
"With InfiniStream, Canon is investing heavily in the booming digitally-printed packaging market," suggests Peter Wolff, director of commercial printing at Canon Europe. "We are proud to have bielomatik and Tresu Group on board to further extend our solution offering.
"Both companies bring many years of experience in the packaging market into the partnership, supporting us to create a complete solution that matches professional standards. The installation and testing at Leupold is part of Canon's proof-of-concept strategy to co-develop packaging solutions with lead customers."
